Specialised aluminium surface treatment for high-value medical equipment

Track Components Ltd, a family run business launched in 2001, uses the latest state-of-the art machinery to make milled and turned metal component parts, including intricate components for advanced medical equipment. Track identified Powdertech Surface Science as a powder coater with the expertise and experience to handle this work, in particular the precision and control offered with INTRICOAT.

High corrosion resistance achieved with Iridite NCP

We apply Iridite NCP as an immersion process, providing the metal with benefits including a very high resistance to corrosion. This surface treatment is frequently specified by regulated industries such as aerospace, automotive abd medical. Use of Iridite as a pre-treatment means that even non-powder coated areas of the metal are protected against corrosion.

Masking for powder coating to leave parts of the surface free of top coat.

Our INTRICOAT team worked with Track Components to develop the necessary masking solutions which, when applied to the components at various stages in the pre-treatment and coating process, would ensure that the coatings were applied only in the specified areas. Masking is a time consuming but very necessary process and needs to be hand applied with precision.

INTRICOAT masking and coating for medical components is carried out in a laboratory style room, separated from the rest of the plant, with conscientious attention to detail and quality control.

For the top coat we applied a high gloss AkzoNobel powder providing a superior finish with a consistent and repeatable thickness level.
